Tie 240

Last one for today. I bought this one at a store called Rainbow Spectrum. It's not made of fabric, but maybe a hard plastic. I thought it was very cute and wanted the whole collection. I only bought one though. Maybe I'll go back and buy some to gift to others. Well that's it for now.

Tie 239

This is the second tie I bought from Brick House. It's a knit one. I know I should knit myself one, but it's easier to just buy one. This is another one of my crazy students, we were laughing about something. I often find myself having lunch with one of my students. I'd rather be eating with them than talking with the other teachers. Like today, the teachers were talking about a bus where people smoke weed and how the driver doesn't get high and such. It wasn't something I wanted to talk about nor hear about. However, when I went to eat with my students we talk about food, life in Japan, what they're going through, what they like. It's just a much happier conversation and leaves us feeling good afterwards.

Tie 238

This is the second tie that my boyfriend gave me for Christmas. It's pretty nice. I wish I wore it more often. It's so hard to find clothes that work with all my ties. I feel like unless I wear black, I'll be clashing with all the patterns that I'm wearing. I should just do what I want anyway.

Tie 237

This is a tie I received for Christmas from my boyfriend. It's so me. I love it! I also love my students. Here's a few of the 3rd year students of Portuguese. One was my freshman and the other two are just some who also make me smile and who I have eaten lunch with. Last time I went back to New York City, I bought four head wraps. I've been wearing them every now and then. I think I look pretty nice with one on.

Tie 236

I bought this tie and another one at a store called Brick House at the mall. It was on sale. I believe it was 900 yen. My one tie to represent my time here.

Tie 235

My awesome friend Anita sent me this tie. She's so awesome and amazing. I'm go glad to have a friend like her. I felt like wearing cat ears that day as well. I like how my students are diligently working in the back. I miss this.

Ties 224-234

These ties were given to me by my Japanese teacher last year. She noticed that I was wearing ties to class and maybe I suggested she raid her husband's closet for ties that he didn't want anymore, maybe I did or maybe it was her idea. I can't remember. But she did give me a bag of ties that were once owned by her husband. She was a really great teacher. Sadly this year I can't take Japanese class, I've been way too busy. I have almost 200 students, but I've been trying to study on my own.
You may notice a little blue in my hair this is yarn that I was trying out. Also, peep the cat earrings.

This is one of my favorites.

I miss my old office. It was so nice to have my own space and not hear everyone.

I wore my hair out in an afro that day.

My very cute student Noriko. She's a Thai major.

My equally cute student Kana who is a Vietnamese major.

This is another time I tried yarn in my hair.

My student took this photo of me. This is also another favorite of mine. Well this is all the ties my Japanese teacher gave me. I'm so thankful for her.

They're Coming!

Hello ladies and gentlemen!

I have not forgotten you all completely. I have gotten some more ties to share with you. I'm just working on the pictures for each of them. I'm almost up to 250! Can you believe it. I was showing my student some of the pictures in class yesterday. It's always interesting to see how my room has changed and the animals. I rarely read the captions along with it, but they're usually short and to the point. I wish I gave more detail, but I guess that's what a diary is for. I miss keeping those. Anyway, I'm excited to be able to share my growing collection with you.
